The performance of a bullet-proof door
Bullet-proof doors are designed to provide optimal protection against armed attacks, in compliance with European standards EN 1522-1523. These standards define the bullet resistance testing for windows, doors, and other building elements, classifying products based on their ability to stop projectiles from various firearms. These doors, according to FB classes (FB1 to FB7), are capable of withstanding a wide range of ammunition, from handguns to powerful assault rifles.
During testing, each door is evaluated under strict parameters, including the impact of temperature, wind, and atmospheric pressure, to simulate real-world attack conditions. The seals, structure, and fixation points are also subjected to rigorous tests to ensure complete protection against armed intrusions. Depending on the desired level of security, the doors are available in several resistance classes (FB4, FB6, etc.), offering protection against weapons such as magnum calibers or semi-automatic rifles.
A range of armored doors resistant to break-ins and/or firearms has been developed, used in strategic sectors such as banks, luxury industries, military and defense, airports, embassies, and courtrooms.

Heinen bullet-resistant doors are built using the Metal+ Inside concept. They feature a high-performance internal steel structure that is mechanically assembled (not welded) to avoid heat deformation. This core is combined with specialised ballistic shielding and high-density materials to absorb and stop projectiles from handguns and assault rifles.
Standard security doors are designed to resist physical forced entry (blunt force or cutting). Bulletproof doors are specifically engineered with internal ballistic layers and reinforced strike points to prevent penetration from high-velocity projectiles. Heinen’s unique advantage is the ability to combine both features, offering an RC5 (burglary) and FB7 (bulletproof) rating in a single door.
Yes. Heinen supplies bulletproof doors with integrated security glazing and fully glazed frames. We utilise high-performance laminated ballistic glass certified to match the door’s FB4 to FB7 rating, providing natural light and visibility for high-security environments like banks, embassies, and military facilities without creating a weak point in the perimeter.
Yes. This is the core benefit of Heinen’s “à la carte” performance integration. You can customise a single door to be bulletproof (FB7), fire-resistant (EI 30–EI 240), and burglar-resistant (RC5). All these performances are cumulative and certified, ensuring complete protection against multiple threats.
Standard glass and doors fail against high-velocity AK-47 (Kalashnikov) rounds. Stopping them requires certified ballistic engineering. Heinen produces AK47-certified doorsets tested to EN 1522-1523. Supplied in single-hinged or double-hinged configurations (up to 1450 × 3035 mm), they combine AK47 defence with burglary resistance (RC4), fire protection , and acoustic insulation (54 dB).
